Account & Data Deletion

MealIdeas.ai is operated by MindSparc PTE. LTD. You can delete your account and all of the data attached to it at any time — either from inside the app, or by emailing us. This page explains both routes, what gets deleted, and how long it takes.

1. Delete your account in the app

This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately. You need to be signed in — the option is hidden for guest users, because a guest session has no account to delete.

  1. Open the MealIdeas app and make sure you are signed in.
  2. Tap Profile in the bottom navigation bar.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Profile screen to the Delete Account row (marked in red with a warning icon).
  4. Tap it. A confirmation dialog titled Delete Account appears and warns you that this permanently deletes your account and all associated data, and that the action cannot be undone.
  5. Confirm by tapping Delete My Account.

Your data is erased from our servers, the app clears everything stored locally on your device, and you are signed out and returned to the start screen.

2. Export your data first (optional)

Deletion is permanent, so if you want to keep a copy, export before you delete. On the same Profile screen, use Export Data → Download My Data to download all of your data as a JSON file.

3. Request deletion by email

If you cannot access the app — for example you have uninstalled it, lost access to your sign-in method, or the in-app option is not working — email us and we will delete the account for you:

Send the request from the email address registered to your MealIdeas account and use the subject line Account deletion request. We may ask one verification question before deleting, so that nobody else can delete your account on your behalf.

4. What gets deleted

Deleting your account erases everything we hold about you, including:

  • Your account and sign-in identity (email, name)
  • Your taste profile, dietary restrictions, and household members
  • Meal plans, planned meals, and generated shopping lists
  • Prep plans and prep tasks
  • Kitchen data — tracked ingredients and pantry items
  • Meal history, favorites, ratings, and feedback
  • Subscription records held on our servers
  • Usage and device identifiers tied to your account

We do not keep a shadow copy of your profile for later use, and none of it is sold or transferred to anyone else.

5. Your subscription is separate — cancel it yourself

MealIdeas Premium is billed by Apple or Google, not by us. Deleting your account removes our record of the subscription, but it does not cancel the billing — only the store that charges you can do that. Cancel it before you delete your account, otherwise you may keep being charged:

  • iPhone / iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → MealIdeas → Cancel Subscription
  • Android: Google Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → MealIdeas → Cancel subscription

Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their own policies — we cannot issue them.

6. How long it takes

In-app deletion removes your data from our live systems immediately. Email requests are completed within 30 days of us receiving and verifying the request, and usually much sooner.

Encrypted backups roll off on their own schedule and are fully purged within 30 days. During that window your data is not accessible in the product and is not used for anything. We retain nothing beyond that except records we are legally required to keep, such as transaction records for tax and accounting purposes, which are kept in an isolated form and are not linked back to a usable profile.
