A warm bowl of stovetop oats cooked in milk and enriched with vanilla protein, finished with maple syrup and toasted pecans for a cozy, filling start.
Ingredients
- 0.5 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup 2% milk
- 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
- 1 tbsp pecans, chopped
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch fine salt
Instructions
- Bring the milk to a gentle simmer in a small saucepan over medium heat, watching so it does not boil over, then stir in the rolled oats, cinnamon, and salt.
- Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring often, until the oats are tender and the mixture has thickened to a creamy porridge.
- Remove from the heat and let it cool for 1 minute, then whisk in the vanilla protein powder until fully dissolved — adding it off the boil keeps the protein from turning grainy.
- Spoon into a bowl, drizzle with the maple syrup, and top with the chopped pecans, toasting them first in a dry pan if you have a spare minute.
