Chewy, smoky-sweet pan-glazed tempeh strips — a savory, jerky-like 20g-protein snack. Fully vegan.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz tempeh
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Slice the tempeh into thin strips. Whisk the soy sauce, maple syrup, smoked paprika and vinegar into a glaze.
  2. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium. Lay the strips in and cook 3-4 minutes per side until browned and firm.
  3. Pour in the glaze and toss for 1-2 minutes until it reduces and coats the strips in a sticky, smoky lacquer. Let cool slightly — they firm up to a chewy, jerky-like bite.
