A toasted everything bagel stacked with a folded fried egg and melty cheddar for a classic American breakfast sandwich you can build in under ten minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 everything bagel
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 oz cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp unsalted butter
  • 1 pinch black pepper

Instructions

  1. Slice the everything bagel and toast it until golden and crisp at the edges while you cook the eggs.
  2. Melt the butter in a small nonstick skillet over medium heat, crack in the eggs, and season with black pepper. Cook for about 2 minutes until the whites are set.
  3. Break the yolks lightly with the spatula and fold each egg in half to fit the bagel, then lay the cheddar over the eggs and let it melt for about 1 minute over low heat.
  4. Slide the cheesy folded eggs onto the bottom bagel half, close with the top half, and press gently so the sandwich holds together.
