A lighter homemade take on the drive-through classic: a savory turkey sausage patty, a folded egg, and melted cheese on a toasted whole-wheat English muffin.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole-wheat English muffin
  • 1 turkey breakfast sausage patty
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cheddar cheese slice
  • 1 tsp unsalted butter
  • 1 pinch black pepper

Instructions

  1. Split the English muffin and toast it until golden. Meanwhile, cook the turkey sausage patty in a skillet over medium heat for about 3 minutes per side until browned and cooked through with no pink center.
  2. Push the patty to one side, add the butter to the pan, and crack in the egg. Season with black pepper and cook for about 2 minutes until the white is set.
  3. Break the yolk and fold the egg into a small square, lay the cheddar slice on top, and let it melt for about 30 seconds.
  4. Stack the sausage patty and the cheesy egg on the bottom muffin half, close with the top, and press gently before serving warm.
