A lighter homemade take on the drive-through classic: a savory turkey sausage patty, a folded egg, and melted cheese on a toasted whole-wheat English muffin.
Ingredients
- 1 whole-wheat English muffin
- 1 turkey breakfast sausage patty
- 1 large egg
- 1 cheddar cheese slice
- 1 tsp unsalted butter
- 1 pinch black pepper
Instructions
- Split the English muffin and toast it until golden. Meanwhile, cook the turkey sausage patty in a skillet over medium heat for about 3 minutes per side until browned and cooked through with no pink center.
- Push the patty to one side, add the butter to the pan, and crack in the egg. Season with black pepper and cook for about 2 minutes until the white is set.
- Break the yolk and fold the egg into a small square, lay the cheddar slice on top, and let it melt for about 30 seconds.
- Stack the sausage patty and the cheesy egg on the bottom muffin half, close with the top, and press gently before serving warm.
